OTTAWA CLOUD BACKUP STARTUP REWIND RAISES $19 MILLION CAD
Rewind, which offers cloud backup solutions for Shopify merchants, has raised $19 million CAD in a Series B round of funding. The round was led by Canaccord Genuity and included participation from existing investors Georgian Partners, Relay Ventures, and BDC Capital. As part of the deal, Canaccord Genuity’s David Kwan will join Rewind’s board. Rewind will use the new funding to further its international expansion, with plans to launch in the US, Europe, and Asia. The company will also expand its product offerings. “We’ve been able to help thousands of entrepreneurs grow their businesses by protecting them against data loss and downtime,” said CEO Mike Potter. “This funding will help us expand our product and reach, and continue to build a company that helps entrepreneurs thrive.”

Learnique, an online learning platform that provides online courses for students and professionals, has raised $1.9 million CAD in seed funding. The round was led by Real Ventures and included participation from Acceleprise Ventures, FJ Labs, and angels such as Jonathan Bixby and Adam Chowaniec. The round was led by Real Ventures and included participation from Golden Ventures, Frontline Ventures, and angels including Peter Misek, Mike Edwards, and Derek Smyth.
