Paula went into the studio in the 1980-81season (about 1000 other competitors) but was rejected before getting a chance to dance because of how tight skirts were back then. But even though fate didn’t allow us too much time together just yet–I’m sure you’ll agree with me about these outfits being hot -we still managed an “A.”
Paula was determined to be a part of the team, so she tried out for it again. This time, they called her name and asked if she wanted to join their squad. There wasn’t even any hesitation in response because, by this point, anything else would have been an upgrade.
She’s proud that despite being cut three times already-and, still managing two more chops before finally making cheerleading history as one of its newest members–she managed somehow to find the courage within herself each time And now?
Well, who knows what the future holds but at least while we’re waiting around wondering whether our dreams will come true.

Paula was the most well-known dancer in her group. She said, “I joined Laker Girls to have fun, but these weren’t only games.” When they met Jackson in 1984, he impressed them so much with their choreography that he requested Paula for one song’s choreo.
Paula’s career began following her performance at the Jacksons’ choreography session. She was able to have music compositions for artists like ZZ Top and George Michael, among other performances alongside Janet Jackson, during this period in America’s history where women were breaking barriers by being not just singers but also songwriters.
