Earlier in June, Netflix announced Outer Banks season 2 release date to be 30th July 2021. Netflix has also released the Outer Banks season 2 trailer officially.
Outer Banks is one among other productions that was able to restart after quarantine. The production of the second season began in September 2020, taking care of all the COVID protocols, and the shoot was wrapped up in January 2021. The rest of the series was filmed in Barbados and was finished by April 2021.
What will season two be about?
Outer Banks season 2 will most likely pick up where it left things in season one with Sarah and John B on their way to the Bahamas trying to find the gold. Pope, JJ, and Kie will deal with the aftermath of SBI’s escape and the deaths. Ward will face the consequences for his actions as local police and SBI find out he is responsible for the death of John B’s dad. Outer Banks is never going to be the same ever..it is going to be a lot of fun to watch season 2.
Will there be any new characters?
Outer Banks is a big place, so hearing about some new faces joining in is not that surprising after all. Carlacia Grant will be joining the cast doing a role to see Pogues in the Bahamas. She will play Celo, a fearless and confident Nassau girl, an artful dodger who collides with Pogues.
Also, Elizabeth Mitchell, the star actress of Lost and Once Upon a Time, will join the cast for the role of Limbrey. Limbrey is a Charleston native compelling woman with a high level of menace and toxicity underneath her courteous ways.
Will they go to the Bahamas?
Yes, Pete confirmed in an interview with EW that some part of the show will follow Sarah and John B. cruising around Nassau, searching for the lost treasure.
Will The Shoot Done Outside Outer Banks?
Outer Banks got criticism before the premier of the first season from the real Outer Banks residents who were annoyed with the fact that the shoot was not done in real Outer Banks and also did not feature any of the landmarks.
Instead, the shoot was done in Charleston, SC, as a protest against North Carolina’s controversial bathroom bill. This bill asked people to use the bathroom that corresponds to their gender as assigned by birth, enacted in 2016 and repealed partially in 2017. There has been a legal battle since then, which ended with courts ruling against the bill during 2019 summer of 2019 after the production of Outer Banks ended. The clause expired in 2020, so now we can expect to see real Outer banks in season 2.
